SBH Lifestyle: A Typical Day at SBH
We are often asked what the typical day at SBH is like, so here we've provided a description of what an average day here might bring.
- The day begins at 7AM. All the ladies are awakened and assistance is given so that they are ready to eat breakfast at 8:15AM.
- The ladies will receive their medications either before or after breakfast; they must go to the nurses’ station. If they forget, they will be reminded.
- Breakfast is served at 8:15.
- After breakfast, they can sit in the living room, read the newspaper, socialize with the other residents or watch TV. Some ladies retreat back to their rooms, make their beds, and tidy up.
- The Activity Director and Assistant arrive at 9:00AM, room visits are made, and the activities for the day are told to each lady.
- The first activity is at 10:00AM.
- Morning snacks are distributed after the first activity.
- Dinner is served at 12:00 noon.
- The afternoon activity starts at 1:30PM; snacks are distributed during the activity or right after.
- Supper is served at 5:30PM. Medications are administered at the times designated by their physician.
- Most ladies will watch TV downstairs in the living room, relax in the sitting room on the first floor or enjoy the sun porches located at the end of the hallway on second and third floors. Some of the ladies enjoy playing cards with each other or doing puzzles.
- Sleep patterns are different with each lady; therefore we do not enforce what time the ladies need to be in bed.
- During the night the 11-7 shift does rounds every 2 hours to ensure that each lady is comfortable and safe and their individual needs are met.
